Welcome to the HAMILTON SHORIN-RYU KARATEDO dojo (a Canadian member club of the Okinawa Karatedo Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Kyokai, head-quartered in Naha City, Okinawa, Japan under the direction of Grandmaster Shugoro Nakazato, 10th Dan Hanshi). Led by chief instructor Sensei Felipe Cabanero, 6th Dan Renshi (37 years of training and 28 years of teaching experience) and assisted by Sensi Bruce Thong, 2nd Dan and Sensei Richard Richardson, 1st Dan, you will be guided through the traditional training of Karatedo as a martial art of self-defense and not solely as a sport.

At our dojo, the Budo (martial) philosophy is practiced and extended beyond mere physical techniques. Our Karatedo training seeks to shape one’s character in life through developing the mind and body as one, emphasizing discipline, strong moral code and respect for others with the ultimate goal of living in harmony with ourselves and others.
